"Erebus ephesperis" Description
Family Noctuidae. Body length: 90–100 mm. Distributed from Honshu to the Ryukyu Islands. A moth distinguished by the eyespots on its wings known as tomoe-mon (comma-shaped crests). The swirling pattern resembles the kanji character tomoe (巴).
