"Figulus binodulus" Description
Family Lucanidae. Body length: 9–16 mm. Distributed from Honshu to Okinawa. Lives inside decaying wood and exhibits parental care, crushing rotting wood into smaller pieces to make it easier for larvae to feed. Males and females show no difference in mandible shape.
