"Terpnosia vacua" Description
Family Cicadidae. Body length: 23–32 mm. Distributed from Honshu (south of the Kantō region) to Kyushu. A small cicada that inhabits pine forests. While Japanese cicadas typically emerge in summer, Haru-zemi appears in spring—from late April to June—as its name haru ("spring") suggests.
