"Platycerus acuticollis" Description
Family Lucanidae. Body length: 9–14 mm. Distributed from Honshu to Kyushu. A small-jawed stag beetle. Exhibits color variation including blue, green, and yellow. Adults fly to the fresh buds of beech trees in spring, wounding them to feed on the sap.
