"Eristalis tenax" Description
Family Syrphidae. Body length: 14–16 mm. Distributed from Hokkaido to the Ryukyu Islands. Gathers at various flowers seeking pollen and nectar, incidentally aiding in plant pollination. Although it resembles a bee, it has no stinger and does not sting.
