Family Gryllidae. Body length: 17–25 mm. Distributed from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Omnivorous, feeding on plants and insect carcasses. Males have sound-producing organs on their wings, while females have a long, awl-shaped ovipositor at the end of their abdomen.
