Family Carabidae. Body length: 22–33 mm. Distributed in central Honshu and northward. Inhabits a wide range of environments including woodlands and grasslands. Adults are active from spring to autumn. Feeds on live small creatures such as insects and earthworms, as well as animal carcasses.
