Family Cordulegastridae. Body length 95–100 mm. Distributed from Hokkaido to the Nansei Islands in Japan. They are the largest dragonflies in Japan. Commonly known as 'Oniyanma' in Japan. The yellow and black striped pattern on their abdomen led to their name 'Oniyanma', which means 'demon dragonfly' in Japanese, as the pattern resembles the design on a demon's pants.
