"Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle" Description
Family Scarabaeidae. Body length: 32–53 mm. Distributed from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Often called the king of insects, it gathers at the sap of kunugi and konara oak trees and is hugely popular. Named because its horn resembles the shape of a kabuto, the traditional Japanese samurai helmet.
