Aphrophoridae family. Body length 5–7mm. Found from Hokkaido to the Southwest Islands of Japan. The larvae produce a sugary protein-containing mucus from their tail end, into which they pump air to create bubbles. Parasitic on various plants including mulberry, willow, rose, and cherry.
