"Atypus karschi" Description
Family Atypidae. Body length: 10–20 mm. Distributed from Hokkaido to the Ryukyu Islands. Digs a hole in the ground and constructs a tube-shaped silk nest. When an insect touches the above-ground portion of the tube, the spider bites through the silk wall and drags the prey inside to consume it.
