"Tsetse Fly" Description
Family Glossinidae. Body length: 5–10 mm. Distributed in Africa. A blood-sucking fly whose bite can transmit African sleeping sickness. Unlike typical flies, its mouthparts are rigid and needle-like, adapted for piercing the skin of mammals and birds to feed on blood.
