"Giant Water Bug" Description
Family Belostomatidae. Body length: 45–68 mm. Distributed throughout Japan except Hokkaido. The largest aquatic insect in Japan. Captures frogs, loaches, and killifish with its sickle-shaped forelegs, injects digestive fluids through its proboscis, and sucks out the liquefied flesh.
