"Laccotrephes japonensis" Description
Family Nepidae. Body length: 30–35 mm. Distributed from Honshu to the Ryukyu Islands. Clings upside down to aquatic plants and preys on killifish and other small creatures. Named taikouchi ("drum beater") because its alternating foreleg movements while swimming resemble the motion of beating a drum.
