"Dorcus montivagus" Description
Family Lucanidae. Body length: 25–38 mm. Distributed in Hokkaido, Honshu, and Shikoku. Gnaws into tree bark with its mandibles to feed on the sap that flows out. Has an inner tooth angled diagonally upward, similar to Oo-kuwagata, which is the origin of its name.
