"Xya japonica" Description
Family Tridactylidae. Body length: around 5 mm. Distributed throughout Japan. The smallest grasshopper in Japan. Jumps vigorously like a flea—nomi means "flea." Inhabits wastelands such as fields, shrine grounds, and sandy areas. Builds dome-shaped nests in which it lives with its family.
