"Tropical Fire Ant" Description
Family Formicidae. Body length: 3–5 mm. Distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. Now established worldwide, including on the Ogasawara Islands and in Okinawa, Japan. When the nest is disturbed, they swarm to bite collectively and sting with the stingers on their abdomens.
