"Tabanus chrysurus" Description
Family Tabanidae. Body length: 20–30 mm. Distributed from Hokkaido to the Ryukyu Islands. The largest horsefly in Japan. Has black and orange stripes resembling a hornet. Females feed on the blood of cattle and horses, and occasionally bite humans as well.
