"Orthetrum melania" Description
Family Libellulidae. Body length: 49–61 mm. Distributed throughout Japan (a separate subspecies inhabits south of the Tokara Islands). Resembles Shiokara-tombo but is noticeably larger in body length and build, and can be distinguished by the dark brown coloring at the tips and bases of its wings.
